OK, it sounds a bit strange, but this natural crystal deodorant works! PitRok is hard (like a rock) and comes in a push-up tube like a regular stick deodorant. To use it, you apply to wet skin or (and I prefer this) wet it and then rub it under your arms. It isn’t sticky, and it says on the pack that it ‘doesn’t block your pores’.
PitRik works by suppressing bacterial growth (apparently that’s what makes your armpits whiff). It has no aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium zirconium (whatever they are - but sounds like we’re better off without them). The ingredients are ammonium alum (pure mineral salts).
I don’t know how effective it would be in the jungle, but I’ve had a few gym workouts after using it and no-one in my household banished me to the shed afterwards!
