Life for carrots and broccoli!
Fed up with your carrots going soggy after one day? Just put them into a Tupperware (or similar) container and pop into the fridge. They stay nice and crunchy for days, if not weeks!.
If you open the box to use them, and they are a bit wet, just dry them off with kitchen roll and put them back, and they’ll be fine.
To keep broccoli from going all flaccid, cut a bit off the stems and stand with the stems immersed in cold water in a container in the fridge. Even if it was a going a bit soft when you bought it, your broccoli will soon perk up with this treatment.
Healthy ‘sweeties’
If you have a sweet tooth, but you want to be more healthy, try this.
Put some red grapes into the freezer. Once properly frozen, take them out and leave for a little while (otherwise they’ll break your teeth) and then, yum, yum! They taste kind of toffee-ish. Perfect for snacking while watching TV (and you are getting a portion of your recommended five-a-day fruit allowance).
Sparkly jewellery
To restore gold and silver jewellery to its lovely shiny state, give it a wipe with one of those ‘refreshing towellettes’ that you get on aeroplanes. Works a treat, and will while away a few minutes on those long-haul flights.
Shiny showers
If you have an enclosed shower cubicle with glass doors, you can keep them really shiny between regular washing times if you wipe down the doors with a squeegee (the thing window cleaners use to wipe off water). Only takes a few moments, and it really makes a difference!
